Law Student Programming

The CBA Alberta has long supported law students and internationally trained lawyers completing the NCA process through mentorship, professional development and other student-focussed programming. We look forward to connecting with new students each year and helping you hit the ground running when you are ready to launch your legal career.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

You are eligible for membership if you’re enrolled full-time at a recognized Canadian law school and have not been called to a Canadian Bar. Student membership is also open to Canadian citizens studying at a recognized foreign law faculty and to National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) students.

5 Reasons Why Law Students Love the CBA

Student Membership is Affordable

Your CBA membership shouldn't break the bank. Students at the faculties of law at the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, as well as students in the Foreign-Trained Lawyer Program and Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway can enjoy a CBA membership for only $30.50/year.

Complimentary Professional Development

We host nearly 500 professional development meetings each year through our Sections, which represent various areas of practice and interest. Attendance at these meetings either by webcast or in person is free for all law student members.

Law student members are also automatically enrolled in the corresponding Law Student Section for their university and in the national Law Student Section.

Watch your emails for our regular PD newsletter or view a list of upcoming meetings on our PD calendar.

We Keep You Connected

We're here to fast-track your career, and want to keep you up-to-date on the latest in the legal profession and the CBA. Check your emails for our monthly newsletter, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about your membership.
