Mental Health Week 2024 runs from May 6 – 12, and this year’s theme is “A Call to be Kind”. Because kindness so often starts with self-care, CBA Alberta and our partners at Assist and other CBA branches around the country have curated a selection of programming that gives you the tools to thrive in your career and personal life.


Red Mug Coffee Circle - 12:00 noon MT

Presented by Assist: The Red Mug Coffee Circle meets virtually on Monday at noon to provide a supportive community of lawyers who discuss issues, and assists students and lawyers who are finding their way or looking to make changes in our profession.

Lawyering Well: How to survive and thrive in law by working smarter not harder - 12:00 noon MT

Presented by CBA Alberta: A successful career in law shouldn't come at the expense of your well-being - you can choose to have both! Join exeuctive coach and lawyer Amy Binder who share the small changes lawyers can make to the way that they work to help them thrive in their careers.


15-Minute Mindfulness Session - 12:00 noon MT

Presented by Assist. Assist's lawyer-yogi will lead attendees through guided breathing, relaxation and mindfulness exercises.

Lawyer Well-Being: Concrete strategies for positive change - 1:30 p.m. MT

Presented by CBABC. We are happiest, healthiest, and most successful when we adopt healthy lifestyles and work habits. Long hours, demanding managers, bosses and clients, complex files, and difficult opposing counsel can be occupational hazards in the legal profession. Understanding how you respond to these challenges, and learning coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety, will help you build a flourishing career.
