On Unconscious Bias, Diversity & Inclusion

MARCH 9, 2018 | 12:00PM - 1:30PM
Live from the Edmonton CBA office; available via webcast province-wide

Being an effective legal professional means recognizing and embracing a changing workplace.

Talk of unconscious bias and the need for diversity and inclusion is everywhere. It drives organizational and policy changes in governmental and legal offices.  But what does it all mean? How can a law office go about implementing a diversity and inclusion policy?  What changes is the Law Society considering and how could they affect lawyers in Alberta? How do we disrupt unconscious bias? Why should we care?

Join us on March 9th (scheduled in recognition of International Women’s Day) to find out.  Our panel will feature the professional experiences and insights of:

  • Lisa Tchir, Assistant Deputy Minister, Gender Policy, Strategy and Innovation Division, Alberta Status of Women Ministry;
  • Cori Ghitter, Director, Professionalism & Policy, Law Society of Alberta; and
  • Gabrielle Battiste, Executive Director, Edmonton Police Commission.
Sponsored, in part, by the Women Lawyers’ Forum (North) section.
