The CBA Alberta has long supported law students and internationally trained lawyers completing the NCA process through mentorship, professional development and other student-focused programming. We look forward to connecting with new students each year and helping you hit the ground running when you are ready to launch your legal career.
You are eligible for student membership if:
- You’re enrolled in undergraduate law studies at a recognized Canadian law school; or
- You are a Canadian citizen studying at a reconized foreign law faculty; or
- You have been accepted to pursue NCA accreditation; or
- You are enrolled in full-time studies required by a law society in order to be called to the Bar in Canada.

Student membership is affordable
Your CBA membership shouldn't break the bank. Undergraduate law students and students participating in the foreign-trained lawyer programs at the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta are eligible for complimentary membership, and all other student members can enjoy a CBA membership for only $30.50/year.
Participate in the Law Student Mentor Program
Exclusively for CBA members, the Law Student Mentor Program pairs you with a practicing lawyer for guidance and insight on how to make the most of your law school experience, and what to expect when you graduate.
Access complimentary professional development
Your law student membership gives you complimentary access to nearly 500 PD and networking events through CBA Alberta Sections, which represent various areas of practice and interest. It also automatically enrolls you in the corresponding Law Student Section for your university.
Volunteer opportunities
Make connections with CBA members around Alberta and share your knowledge and skills in areas that matters to you. Law student members can volunteer their time through CBA Alberta committees, Sections and more.
